We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician/Preanalytical Technician to join our Laboratory Service at Wairoa Hospital. The Wairoa site services a small community in the sunny Hawkes Bay
The role involves all pre-analytical laboratory processes and POC testing onsite. The person appointed will be required to perform phlebotomy, specimen receipting and registration, laboratory analysis, maintenance tasks and expected to form strong relationships with the hospital clinicians, GP’s and the local community. With time there may be an opportunity to take on a leadership role.
This person will have experience in laboratory work and will be working 80 hours per fortnight Monday to Friday. Training will be provided to the extent it is required, with full orientation and ongoing support.
Our ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Computer/keyboard skills.
- Technical experience.
- Highly developed communication skills.
- Ability to learn and follow protocols and guidelines precisely.
- Experience or an interest in training others is preferable.
Preference will be given to a candidate with recent experience who is already registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
